Are you interested in giving back to your community? Maybe you want to take the first step towards a career in the medical field? Many doctors, nurses, PAs, and other medical professionals start out their careers as an Emergency Medical Technician.
Waterville Emergency Medical Services is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. Waterville EMS is a volunteer run department, we utilize community members dedicated to leadership and public safety, to bring our citizens and visitors outstanding medical services. Our goal is to always achieve the highest level of patient care and comfort.
There are multiple positions you can pursue with the department. The first and most common, is to join as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT.) Even if you’re not currently certified, we can help find classes and may be able to offer tuition assistance. As an EMT you would help care for patients on scene and during transport. You would start out working with experienced providers, eventually moving on to caring for patients on your own.
Maybe working in the back of an ambulance isn’t for you. We could still use your help as an Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) becoming an EVO involves becoming first aid and CPR certified with some additional in-house training. You would still help out on scene but would never be solely responsible for a patient.
For some, responding to ambulance calls is the last thing you want to do. Don’t worry, you may still be able to help behind the scenes as an auxiliary member. We also have opportunities for high school students to get some of their volunteer hours signed off.
Whichever path interest you, just know we pride ourselves as public servants and community leaders, we’re dedicated to providing service with competency, compassion and humility. On average we answer over 250 calls for aid per year, with a variety of medical problems, traumatic injuries, rescues and cardiac arrests. We are a small, but strong department always looking for individuals willing to serve their community.

Who we
are
We are regular people, community members who decided they wanted to serve their community. We’re dedicated to leadership and public safety, committed to bringing our neighbors the best Emergency Medical Service possible. Most of us had no previous medical experience, but now EMS is second nature. For some they felt a special calling, for others they saw a social media post or heard someone talking about the need for EMTs in the community. The only thing we all have in common, is that each of us made the decision to reach out.
